gategroup has successfully opened the Air France lounge at Munich Airport, marking an important milestone in the continued development of its lounge hospitality operations. The lounge is managed by Uqonic, gategroup’s specialist brand for premium hospitality experiences.
The lounge was awarded on 5 May and officially opened on 1 July, with the full transition completed in just eight weeks. The project required a fast, carefully coordinated handover, bringing together operational planning, infrastructure changes, menu development and team mobilisation within a short timeframe.
The takeover was completed overnight, allowing the lounge to reopen with a fully transformed layout, updated infrastructure and a refreshed food and beverage offer aligned with Air France’s new lounge concept. The result brings the airline’s signature French touch to Munich, creating a guest experience that reflects Air France’s brand identity while being delivered through Uqonic’s hospitality expertise and gategroup’s local operational strength.
The new lounge operation welcomes approximately 250 guests per day and is supported by a team of 11 full-time employees. Rather than creating a standalone structure, the lounge has been integrated into gategroup’s existing Munich infrastructure and is led by the established MUC team. This approach allowed the operation to build on local knowledge, existing systems and proven processes while ensuring a smooth launch for Air France and its guests.
The opening also represents a first for gategroup: this is the first Air France lounge operated by the company outside French territory. It reflects the strength of the partnership and the group’s ability to deliver premium hospitality solutions across different markets, formats and operational environments.
From award to opening, the Munich project demonstrates the value of strong teamwork, agility and precise execution. Completing a full operational transformation in eight weeks required close collaboration across teams and a clear focus on continuity, quality and guest experience.
With the Air France lounge now open at Munich Airport, Uqonic continues to strengthen gategroup’s role in supporting airlines beyond the aircraft, delivering hospitality experiences that extend the journey and bring each brand’s identity to life on the ground.
