gategroup is proud to announce the official opening of its newly upgraded gategourmet kitchen at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL), exclusively serving Air Canada. The enhanced facility marks a significant milestone in gategroup’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence and reinforces its long-standing strategic partnership with Air Canada, one of the company’s most valued collaborators in the North American region and across the globe.
Designed with the future of airline catering in mind, the modernized Montréal unit integrates advanced technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and employee-focused improvements under one roof. The result is a state-of-the-art catering hub that embodies innovation, efficiency, and care, setting a new benchmark for operational and environmental performance within the aviation catering industry.
The upgraded facility features high-efficiency mechanical and electrical systems, energy-saving LED lighting, and a refreshed fleet equipped with 360° cameras and anti-collision systems. In addition, key food safety and compliance enhancements include automated hand-washing stations, improved refrigeration and HVAC systems, and a redesigned production flow to support greater consistency, hygiene, and efficiency throughout every stage of meal preparation and delivery.
Reflecting gategroup’s ongoing commitment to its people, the approximately 400 employees at the Montréal unit now benefit from a fully renovated cafeteria, modernized office areas, and upgraded workspaces designed to promote collaboration, comfort, and well-being. These improvements contribute to a better employee experience and align with gategroup’s global goal of fostering an inclusive and future-ready workplace culture.
“This unit is a reflection of our dedication to providing best-in-class service and support to Air Canada,” said Jens Kuhlen, President of gategroup North America. “We have made meaningful upgrades to ensure we are operating at the highest standards, both for our customer and for our people.”
“Montréal is a flagship location for our operations in Canada,” added Chris Kinsella, Chief Commercial Officer of gategroup North America. “With this newly enhanced facility, we are ensuring that Air Canada and their passengers continue to receive the quality, care, and consistency they expect.”
