When Espacio Iberia touched down in Buenos Aires, it brought more than a glimpse into aviation. It offered visitors a chance to experience the sights, tastes, and service that define flying with Iberia. At the heart of it was gategroup, through gategourmet Argentina.

From March 27 to April 25, 2025, this interactive event in downtown Buenos Aires welcomed locals and travellers to step inside a replica of Iberia’s new Airbus A350 cabins, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, and get a feel for life in the air. But beyond the sleek cabins, it was the culinary experience led by gategourmet Argentina that stole the show.

Led by Operations Manager Sergio Mostaza and Executive Chef Julio Córdoba, the team recreated Iberia’s onboard meal service just as passengers enjoy it at 30,000 feet. Throughout the event, chefs Cristian Werbach, Julio Córdoba, and Enrique Adrover hosted live show-cooking sessions, giving visitors an inside look at how inflight dining comes together.

For the occasion, the team created a dish blending flavors from Spain and the Americas: octopus marinated in anticucho, served with roasted potatoes, humita, chive oil, and a chia, pumpkin, and sunflower cracker. More than just a tasting, the demonstration traced the journey of each ingredient and spotlighted the care and attention to food safety that brings these dishes to life, both on the ground and in the air.

Guests also explored other highlights, including a flight simulator, an exhibition of Iberia’s historic uniforms, and interactive displays about airline catering. Together, these experiences gave visitors a deeper look at travel and the role gategroup plays in shaping it.

Behind the scenes, it was a proud moment for the gategourmet Argentina team. With planning led by Darío Eckelhart, assembly managed by Michel Sandoval, service delivery overseen by Pablo Aramendia, and sales coordinated by Lorena Garea and Emma Gonzalez, it was a true team effort that brought everything together.

As the event wrapped up, pride was clear among the team. From chefs to planners, everyone played a part in bringing the Iberia experience to life in Buenos Aires. Luis Calós, Country Manager of gategourmet Argentina, put it simply: “We’re grateful to Iberia for the chance to be part of this special event. It was a real team effort, and seeing the positive response reminds us why we do what we do, to create great experiences, whether in the air or on the ground.”

For gategroup, Espacio Iberia wasn’t just about showcasing its service. It was about connecting with people, sharing a love of good food and travel, and celebrating the teamwork that makes every journey possible.
