Job Summary

Gate Gourmet is the world's largest independent provider of catering services for airlines and is the core business behind gategroup, whose eleven associated brands offer customers a comprehensive scope of products and services for virtually any on-board need. Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Using your strong leadership skills, you will lead and enable the Assembly team(s) to deliver and sustain customer, business and statutory requirements to a high standard at one of London's busiest airports while acting as a role model for gategroup company values. You will drive forward the units overall business strategy by developing functional strategies, setting new standards and developing and implementing new processes and short to mid-term operational plans. The role can directly influence the outcomes and control activity within own area of responsibility by setting and communicating clear achievable objectives and delivering the desired results.

As the Process Owner, you will identify deviations between target and actual costs, formulate action plans and take corrective actions as required. You will identify opportunities from within the process area and completes analysis to justify any proposals for expenditure to improve the operation. Coordinating with other operational areas of the unit, you will ensure optimal service for internal and external customer.

Driving efficiencies through the effective management of productivity, you will guarantee compliance with the objectives established in the budget, monitoring daily and using the defined management tools (OPRS) as well as analysing KPIs and producing quality reports for the management team in striving towards operational excellence. You will also have financial accountability for your process areas (eg. Labour, Material, CapEx, OpEx, etc.)

Working closely with the Human Resources team(s) you will proactively manage team performance and identify development/succession planning opportunities. Where required, exercising high levels of influencing, negotiation and communication skills you will resolve conflict/provide workable solutions a greater level of team work. 

 Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will drive forward continuous improvement initiatives and foster an environment of change and productivity. You will ensure compliance to legislative requirements in line with Food Safety, Health and Safety, Security and Environment controls, analysing the departmental Hygiene and Health and Safety targets and implementing action plans and identifying training needs to achieve improvements.

Educated to a Degree level; Professional qualification in operations/logistics preferred. NEBOSH / Food safety related  qualifications preferred

Work Experience:

  • Extensive experience in managing large non-automated assembly operations and teams within a fast-paced environment;
  • Operational Management within a Food Hygiene/ Health and Safety/high security environment preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership roles at Senior Management Levels.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced unionised environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Strong analytical skills and being able to extract key data from various sources.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and delegation skills.
  • Excellent IT Skills, Word, Excel, Outlook.



Must have the indefinite right to work in the UK; Ability to successfully undertake a CRC (Criminal Record Check); Ability to provide 5 years of checkable referencing history.
